On April 9, the Carrying the Lion’s Spirit, Nourishing Hearts with Aesthetic Education China-Uzbekistan Student Intangible Cultural Heritage Lion Dance Cultural Experience Event was held at the Digital Culture Exhibition Hall of the Student Activity Center on the Weishui Campus. The event was hosted by the China-Uzbekistan Faculty of Transportation and organized by the School of Automotive Engineering, the School of Foreign Studies, and the Journey Toward Beauty Counselor Studio. Over 40 participants attended, including members of the Silk Road Youth Fellowship Central Asia (Uzbekistan) Technical Officials Special Training Program, the first cohort of international students from the China-Uzbekistan Faculty of Transportation, and undergraduate representatives from the School of Foreign Studies.

The event closely adhered to the principles of cultural heritage, aesthetic education, and cross-cultural integration, using China’s intangible cultural heritage lion dance as a cultural bridge. The session covered historical origins, cultural symbolism, and prop-making, transforming lion dance—a folk art combining martial arts and dance—into a cross-cultural language. It introduced the cultural significance of lion dance as a symbol of auspiciousness and highlighted the unique features of national-level intangible cultural heritage forms such as Xushui Lion Dance and Guangdong Awakening Lion Dance.

The Chinese student lion dance team conducted teaching demonstrations, skillfully performing classic movements like Awakening the Lion and Soaring Leaps. Subsequently, international students donned lion dance costumes and, under guidance, learned techniques such as holding the lion’s head and coordinating steps, experiencing lion dance firsthand. The event was filled with a lively atmosphere, accompanied by continuous laughter and joy.

The China-Uzbekistan Faculty of Transportation is an important platform for Chang’an University to serve national strategies and deepen educational openness. This event served as a vivid practice of promoting the international dissemination of China’s outstanding traditional culture and cultivating international students who understand and befriend China. In the future, the schools will continue to leverage the Silk Road as a cultural link, providing talent and intellectual support for the infrastructure connectivity of countries along the Belt and Road Initiative, and injecting new educational momentum into building a China-Central Asia community with a shared future.
